I am interested in early modern Britain's intellectual culture and, more broadly, the various ways in which lives may be written and recounted by historians. I am currently preparing my first book for publication, an intellectual biography of the Glaswegian minister and religious controversialist, Robert Baillie (1602-1662). Through Baillie's biography, I shed light on broader trends in the religious and political debates tearing Britain apart during the Civil Wars and Interregnum. My next research project investigates the manuscript-collecting habits and life-writing practices of early modern authors of clerical lives.
