MA Candidate
Canadian Indigenous history

B.A. (Honours) in History, University of Manitoba

Originally from Treaty 1 territory, I come from a small francophone/métis town and recently graduated from the University of Manitoba where I discovered my passion for Indigenous history. Specifically, my interest is in Indigenous child welfare history in twentieth-century Canada. I plan on examining how the removal of Indigenous children from their homes continued in large numbers after the “Sixties Scoop” as a result of public policies that failed to address deeper issues, such as intergenerational trauma and poverty as a result of failed treaties, policies of Indigenous assimilation, and institutional racism. My research will be supervised by Dr. Karen Dubinsky.
