Aprajita Sarcar

Aprajita Sarcar has been awarded her doctoral degree in January 2020. Her doctoral project, under Dr Ishita Pande's supervision, was on the small family norm in South Asia (1930-60). She has commenced her postdoctoral fellowship at Centre de Sciences Humaines, New Delhi. Her project will extend the themes of her doctoral work, and focus on the nuclear family and the fertility policies in urban post-Independence India. Her research interests include gender, urban histories, historical demography, oral family histories, histories of health governance, development, medicine, maternal health, and population control in Asia.
