The Queen’s University Human Rights and Equity Office stands in solidarity with Indigenous communities, students, staff, and faculty during a time of deep mourning after the unthinkable loss of 215 children at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School of Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc.

We recognize the genocidal intent of the Residential School system and the profound harms, direct and indirect, that continue to be experienced by Indigenous communities, as well as the legacy of assimilation and erasure that Indigenous peoples experienced and continue to experience in educational institutions.

Today, we pledge to support ongoing efforts to decolonize our institution, and we remain committed to addressing the 94 Calls to Action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
