The Queen’s Student Experiences Survey

A campus climate survey is a valuable tool for gathering information from  Queen’s students about overall campus culture and climate, including experiences,  perceptions, and  behaviours with respect to diversity, inclusion, and sexual violence at the university. The Queen’s Student Experiences Survey is part of a wide-ranging effort to understand and address these issues and will provide a baseline from which we can measure improvement in the coming months and years.

Information from this survey will be critical in creating an inclusive campus environment, tailoring policies, and programming, and improving services and the campus response to discrimination and harassment. The data collected will be used to inform a publicly available, aggregated report that will reflect student views, feelings, and experiences.

Update April 16, 2021

Gazette article - Student Experiences Survey receives more than 6,000 responses

Queen’s consultation on equity, diversity, inclusion, Indigenization, and sexual violence on campus collects meaningful insights to help inform path toward greater equity and wellbeing.

In August 2020, senior leadership signed the Queen’s University Administration’s Declaration of Commitment to Address Systemic Racism. In this declaration, senior leaders committed to challenging racism “through the critical examination of our own roles in its perpetuation and in the practices and policies that may support persistent inequities.” This survey is sponsored by the Declaration Implementation team. It will allow the university to examine gaps in our efforts as well as progress towards this commitment through anti-racism initiatives. The Student Experiences Survey will establish and regularly monitor metrics that measure campus culture, including the experiences and perceptions of individuals and groups on campus.
