36 Delegates from Queen's and the Kingston Region Traveled to Boston to Learn from World-Class Entrepreneurs and Innovators

Every Fall, DDQIC organizes a trip to attend the MassChallenge Awards, the culminating awards ceremony and pitching event for some of Boston's top new start-ups. Members of the entrepreneurship community in Kingston have the opportunity to network in the Boston innovation ecosystem and also with one another to strengthen the entrepreneurial opportunities for post-secondary students in the Kingston region.

This year, DDQIC welcomed a multi-disciplinary group of students/alumni to travel to Boston October 17-19th. Delegates included participants from these programs and organizations:

Their travels took them to the MassChallenge Awards Ceremony at the Boston Convention Centre and informative tours and networking opportunities at a number of regional hubs of entrepreneurship.

The group visited the MIT campus in Cambridge to tour the Martin Trust Centre for MIT Entrepreneurship which provides the expertise, support, and connections MIT students need to become effective entrepreneurs.

 

 

 

They toured Artisan’s Asylum, one of the largest makerspaces in the United States, which houses hundreds of artists, engineers and makers in their 40,000 square foot facility of rental studio spaces and workshops.

 

 

They toured Cambridge Innovation Centre, which houses workspaces, co-working spaces, and wet lab spaces for growing companies. Delegates had the opportunity to network with entrepreneurs at Venture Café, which hosts a weekly networking and pitch event.
