Apply to QICSI 2020

QICSI is eligible to two distinct groups:

  1. Individuals without an idea or a team. Apply by November 26, 2019 at NOON (12:00PM EST)
  2. Teams with an idea. Apply by January 10, 2020 at NOON (12:00PM EST)

Paths into QICSI

1. You are an individual without an idea or a team:

We admit individual applicants with a capacity for creativity, a tolerance for risk and a demonstrated interest in entrepreneurship or social innovation. The ideal individual applicant is searching for their next opportunity and a team of co-founders to build a venture. Individuals in the program will participate in the two-week bootcamp followed by a week of team formation where they will be required form a new team of co-founders with other individuals in the cohort or join an existing pre-formed team as a co-founder. Individuals will also be exposed to research and ideas from the Foundry program and have the option to form a venture based those ideas.

It is important to note that individual applicants are not eligible for QICSI if they have already committed to working with a team or have already committed to working on an idea. If this is the case, please see our pre-formed team application.

Application process

  1. Fill out the application form. Eligible candidates will be selected for an interview.
  2. Group interview with the DDQIC Executive team.
  3. Offers sent to successful candidates. Successful candidates who applied for a bursary will be notified if they will receive a bursary.

2. You have a team and an idea:

We admit pre-formed teams who are already developing a venture and are enrolled in the QYourVenture program. If you are interested in applying to QICSI, you must first enroll in the QYourVenture program to be eligible. Preference will be given to those in the Ignite phase, however all will be considered and are encouraged to apply (read about the QYourVenture process). Pre-formed teams must pitch for admission to QICSI with each member of the co-founding team who wishes to participate in QICSI present. Candidates must have a fully-formed team of co-founders who can commit to participating in the full extent of the program in order to be eligible. Eligible teams are comprised of at least two full time QICSI participants, however they are advised to consider onboarding one or more additional team members to improve their likelihood of admission and success in the program. Teams of three or more will be favoured in the application process.

Application process

  1. Apply to pitch in Stream 2 – QICSI Admission in the Regional Pitch Competition.
  2. Pitch for admission to QICSI. Successful candidates will be notified of their pitch time.
  3. Individual and team interviews. Each member of the team will participate in an individual interview with the DDQIC Executive Team, followed by a whole team interview. Successful teams who pitched will be notified of their interview date.
  4. Offers sent to successful candidates. Successful candidates who applied for a bursary will be notified if they will receive a bursary.
