As explained at the Restricted Resources page, IT Admin Reps will be sent a notification when disk usage on the department's shared file space is approaching the limit. They can then can ask their users to remove files they no longer need, or they can contact the ITSC to request additional storage, for a fee (see Service Fees).
When the amount of file space used by the department reaches the soft limit (95% of the hard limit) an alert is sent, but the department can continue to add and update files. When the hard limit is reached, no new files can be created and existing files cannot be moved or edited.
The default quota for a department is the product of the base amount per Staff or Faculty (see Service Fees) multiplied by the number of full-time staff in the department. The total space used is monitored by the quota software.
