Microsoft Bookings FAQ

Q. What is Microsoft Bookings?

Microsoft Bookings is an online appointment scheduling tool offered through Office 365. It allows users to display a calendar showing their availability, allowing others to select a time that works for both parties.

Key features include:

  • A 24/7/365 online solution for booking appointments — no calls necessary
  • Automatic email confirmations and reminders
  • The ability to cancel or reschedule online
  • An easy way to add appointments to their calendars
  • The option to schedule via phone or in person, if they wish — you can easily add appointments to Bookings manually from a computer or on a mobile device

Microsoft Bookings has three primary components:

1. A booking page where your users can schedule appointments with a staff member who should provide the service. You can provide users with a direct link to the booking page or embed on your own web site.

2. A set of web-based, administrator-facing pages where Bookings administrators can record customer preferences, manage staff lists and schedules, define services, set business hours, and customize how services and staff are scheduled.

3. An administrator-facing mobile app where Booking site administrators can see all their bookings, access customer lists and contact information, and make manual bookings.

Q. How can I use Microsoft Bookings to schedule my office hours for my students?
Microsoft Bookings can be used if faculty wish to allow individual students to schedule a specific time to meet with someone for help or information on the course.  Professors can provide times that they have available, or they can include the course TAs as well to provide students a variety of meeting times that work with everyone's schedule.
Q. Where is Microsoft Bookings data stored?
Microsoft Bookings data is stored within Microsoft's Canadian data centers.
Q. Can I export Microsoft Bookings data?
Yes, you can now see a 120 day view of your Booking calendar in a TSV file. TSV files are tab separated value files. You can view or edit a file like this with any text editor or spreadsheet program, such as Excel. For more information, refer to Reporting information for Microsoft Bookings.
Q. How do I delete a Bookings site?
Only Office 365 administrators can delete Bookings sites. If you no longer require your Bookings site, please request to have it removed using the Microsoft Bookings Requests form.
