Your NetID is your network identity at Queen's University. It will be the "User ID" you need to sign on to the applications and services that are operated by Information Technology Services (ITS), such as Office 365 email, onQ, SOLUS Student Centre, MyQueen'sU, QShare, Wiki, etc.

Note:  The Queen's password policy requires a strong password of 10 characters and passwords must be changed at least once every 12 months.  Some services will require more frequent password changes.  

Getting Started


  • Students, faculty, staff and alumni members at Queen's each receive a NetID.

Students, Faculty and Staff:

  • The first step in using your NetID is to go through the activation process. To do so go to the NetID Profile Manager


  • If you know your NetID but you do not remember the password, you may be able to re-set your password
    • If you set up your Security Questions and an alternate email address, go to the NetID Profile Manager and select Start Password Reset page.
    • If you are unable to complete the Self Service Password Reset above, contact the IT Support Centre at 613-533-6666
  • If you never had a NetID but you remember your student number, you can attempt to Activate a NetID.
  • If you do not know your student number, please contact the Office of the Registrar at Tel (fees): 613-533-6894
  • If you do not know your NetID, please contact Alumni Services at 1-800-267-7837 (Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm)


  • This is for a guest/consultant/visitor who absolutely will NOT be issued any type of appointment and is not paid by the university
  • Account can be requested by contacting the department's IT Admin Rep

Additional Information

You are assigned a NetID when you first come to Queen's.

Note: Using the email option does not change your NetID. If your original assigned email was, and you have opted to use, your NetID would remain 'thumbt'.
