IP Address Allocation

The Queen's network will automatically assign IP configuration information to client devices configured to automatically obtain this information using DHCP (dynamic host configuration protocol). This is the default setup for most devices. IP addresses assigned this way are used by the device for the length of their network session. Devices will not necessarily be assigned the same IP address for every session. Users requiring reserved IP addressing can request IP assignments tied to a device's MAC (physical address) by submitting a request to the IT Support Centre.
