FortiClient VPN for macOS

If you’re travelling or working away from the office, using the Campus VPN client (Fortinet FortiClient) is a safe and easy way to ensure a secure, remote connection to on-campus resource.

Download and Install the FortiClient VPN


  1. Download the FortiClient VPN installer from the Queen's Software Center. The download will take a couple of minutes.
    • For macOS select "FortiClient_x.x.x.xxxx_macosx.dmg"


  1. Double-click the installer to mount the disk image, then double-click on the Install.mpkg icon

  2. The Installer will launch. Follow through the prompts using all the defaults

Connect to the FortiClient VPN


  1. Once you have installed the FortiClient VPN using the steps above, launch the FortiClient application from Finder

  2. On the main screen of the FortiClient VPN, enter your NetID and password and click Connect

  3. If you are using macOS 10.14 or later you will be prompted to authorize the VPN extension
    • Click Open Security Preferences and then choose Allow


  4. If you are using ESET Endpoint Security you will also be prompted about a new network connection
    • Select Work and Remember network, then click OK

  5. Once you have dealt with all the security prompts, the upper left corner of your screen will say VPN Connected and will show you details about the connection
