Q. My computer is joined to Active Directory (AD) and I am unsure if my recovery key is backed up to Active Directory?

Please follow the tutorial to Backup Your Bitlocker Recovery Key to AD.  You will receive a confirmation of the command being successful.

Q. I need to obtain my backup recovery from AD as my personal backup is not available?

Please contact the IT Help Desk and after confirming your identity, your request will be escalated and your recovery key will be provided.

Q. I am unable to enable BitLocker on my USB memory stick?

If your computer is joined to Active Directory, a policy that backs up your recovery key requires the computer to be on the Queen's Network. You can either wait until your laptop is on campus, or you can connect to Queen's via VPN to encrypt your device.
