Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching (Formerly Microsoft Imagine)

Queen’s University is a member of the Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching program. This program allows access to various Microsoft software products at no cost.

Products such as Access, Project, SQL Server, Visio, Visual Studio, Windows, Windows Servers and many more are available. 

Getting Started

Who Can Have It?

  • Azure Dev Tools for Teaching is available to active faculty, staff and students.  Students registered in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) programs will find additional offerings.

Are There Any Costs?

  • Azure Dev Tools for Teaching is available at no cost

How Do I Get It?

  • To access Azure Dev Tools for Teaching, visit https://azureforeducation.microsoft.com/devtools
    • Note: you will need to log in with your NetID@queensu.ca email address as your username and NetID password 
    • If you use your NetID@queensu.ca as your personal Microsoft account, you will need to select Personal Login as opposed to Work or School Login
  • Some products require the use of a "Product Activation Key"
    • Only one key will be issued per product
    • The key will be obtained when downloading the product

What if I Leave Queen's?

  • You will lose access to Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching when you leave the university.

Additional Information

  • It is your responsibility to make a backup of install files and keys, you may not be able to retrieve them through the site in future, even while you are still an active member of the program.
  • Software is provided on an as-is basis.
  • IT Services makes no warranty or assurances that the software will work in the manner the student expects.
  • Software is installed at the student's own risk.
  • If a student is uncomfortable installing software on his/her personal computer, then they should not participate in the program.
  • Due to the volume of students in the program, IT Services are unable to provide software support for any issues encountered.
