Playlists make displaying media content easier and more efficient in external sources, such as onQ and WebPublish. If you display (embed) a playlist in an external source, when you upload a video and choose to publish it to that specific playlist, the external source is automatically updated to display this video, along with any other videos that have been published to that playlist. This saves you from having to individually embed each uploaded video.

An example of a good use of this feature is if an instructor creates different playlists for each course they teach, then embeds each playlist in its corresponding onQ course. When a video is published to any of these playlists, the playlist in onQ will be updated to contain that video.

Before uploading a video, you should create a playlist so that you can add your video to it during the upload process. This saves you from having to add it to a playlist at a later date.

Create a New Playlist

  1. From the library that will be the source of the playlist, select the Playlists menu from the navigation pane.
  2. Select the +Add button to create a new playlist.
  3. Enter a Name for the playlist.
  4. Optional: Upload or enter a URL to add a logo to the playlist.
  5. Optional: If you want to allow viewers to download the media file of the content they are viewing, click the Allow Download checkbox.
  6. Optional: If you do not want to people to view embedded playlist content, deselect Show Playlist Content .
  7. Select Save.

Embed Code for the Playlist

The Embed Code can be used to insert your playlist into another CMS, LMS, or HTML supported platform, such as WebPublish, SharePoint, and Brightspace. Visit the Embedding section to learn more about embedding videos and playlists.

Playlist ID for the Playlist

The Playlist ID can be used to insert your playlist into Moodle or the Queen's Wiki. Visit the Embedding section to learn more about embedding videos and playlists

Create a Permalink

The Create a Permalink feature enables users to share their playlists publicly using a static URL.


Categories can be used to organize playlist content.


The Auto-Publish feature, when enabled, will result in the automatic publishing of content when it arrives in your Media Library.

Access Control

Using the Access Control feature, you can limit access to Streaming Service users, or restrict playback to a specific domain/IP/web address. Visit the Secure a Playlist section to learn more about embedding videos and playlists

Google Analytics

Google Analytics property ID can be associated with one or more playlists.
