The NSERC funded CREATE program for LEaders in wAter anD watERshed Sustainability (the LEADERS CREATE) brings students from a variety of schools and departments to the forefront of water research through an interdisciplinary approach to develop future leaders in water-related science and policy.

Graduate students typically work on single-discipline projects, although watersheds are best understood through their interdisciplinary connections to water resources, human health and wellbeing, and ecosystem health. Experienced researchers will have established collaborations and partnerships that allow them to put their own research in this broader context, but it is more difficult for students to get this broader experience through their projects unless they are in a program that has been carefully designed to provide that experience.

The student LEADERS graduating from this program will be top candidates for employment with environmental consulting firms, government agencies, research institutes and environmental non-governmental organizations.
