Teaching Assistant for JAPN 200

Tutorial times: Monday 10:30-11:30 in KINGST LAB B

  • I am half Japanese and half Canadian. I grew up in Ottawa, Ontario and spent most of my childhood summers visiting my family in Japan.
  • I am a Politics Studies Major and Health Studies Minor.
  • I have been speaking Japanese since I was born and grew up in a household where I communicated to my mother in Japanese and English to my father. On Saturdays, I attended Hoshukou (Japanese School) until I graduated in Grade 10.
  • This past summer I had the opportunity to live in Tokyo and work for Lululemon at several of their different locations in Japan. At the stores, I educated guests in both English and Japanese.
  •  My hobbies include being active (HITT work outs, running, yoga etc.) and cooking.

  • I was born in Hong Kong and brought up in Toronto, Ontario. 
  • I am a LLCU major, minoring in Global Development Studies 
  • I spent my third year as an exchange student in Tokyo, Japan
  • I have always been interested in learning languages, and am fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. I am also conversational in Japanese and Korean.
  •  My hobbies include spotting cute dogs and trying good food.

Brandan Ranjith

Tutorial times:Tuesdays 8:30-9:30

  • I am Sri Lankan. Born in the United States, then grew up in Belleville, Ontario 
  • I'm currently in my fourth year, majoring in life sciences with a minor in world languages 
  • I can speak Japanese confidently in converstional settings, and am studying for the N2 level of the JLPT
  • I have a passion for languages, and am currently learning Mandarin and Spanish at Queen's and Korean via self-study
  •  Other than going to medical school, my goals include using the languages I learn to make friends with people from all around the world
