Summer Orientation (SOAR)

Running July 12th - July 23rd, 2021, Summer Orientation to Academics and Resources (SOAR) is a summer orientation program for incoming first year students and their parents and supporters, run by the Student Experience Office. The program features a combination of modules and online events, including opportunities to connect with upper-year students, faculty, and staff. SOAR will be viewed through onQ, where many students will take future courses, and aims to help prepare students for new academic expectations, address questions or concerns about university life, and introduce resources and support services for all incoming students.

SOAR will help you:

  • Prepare effectively for new academic expectations
  • Prepare for potential personal stresses and academic pressure points during first year
  • Make the most of services and resources to support student learning and academic success
  • Anticipate important academic dates and deadlines
  • Navigate administrative processes, including academic registration and financial accounts
  • Get tips for a smooth transition and supports at the BISC
  • Connect with and get answers to all of your questions from current students, faculty, and staff!
