Dear Parking Permit holders,

I am writing to advise you that, because of changes being introduced by the City of Kingston, the Queen’s surface parking permit will no longer be valid for on-street parking along the streets noted below as of the effective dates.  The City will add municipal pay and display parking, and/or introduce resident and commuter on-street parking permits instead.

Queen’s surface parking passes will no longer be valid for parking on the following streets:

Arch, Barrie, Clergy as of July 1

Albert St and Queen’s Crescent as of October 1

We recognize that the City’s changes will potentially inconvenience a number of Queen’s parking permit holders, and the university is taking steps to ensure that there continues to be sufficient Queen’s parking spaces:

  • The parking lot at the corner of Division and Union Streets will convert to Queen’s permit parking as of July 1.   We are planning that the solar house currently on that lot will be removed and the lot will be paved, providing additional spaces and a better facility for permit holders.

  • The existing pay and display spaces in the parking lot behind Miller Hall will become permit parking.

Please note that there may be a delay in the removal of the pay and display machines from these lots, but rest assured that Queen’s parking permit holders using these lots will not be ticketed.

More information about Queen’s parking services can be found on the Parking Department website, and information about the City’s changes to municipal on-street parking can be found on the City’s website.

Should you have any questions about these parking changes, please do not hesitate to contact me at any time.
