Leveraging Queen's resources and critical funding from the government of Canada through FedDev Ontario, the Queen’s Partnerships and Innovation (QPI) team, the Queen’s Business Law Clinic (QBLC), Launch Lab, and St. Lawrence College (SLC) offers several programs and services to startups in Eastern Ontario that are developing and pursuing science-based, technology-based, or software-based solutions.
QPI is also pleased to be a partner in the HI YGK Project led by the City of Kingston, providing programs and services to health innovation-focused eligible companies in the Kingston region.

Programs
Located in the Seaway Coworking building at 310 Bagot Street in Kingston, Ontario, the Queen's Startup Runway is a physical incubation program, for entrepreneurs, startups, and small companies developing new technologies, that includes co-location with the QPI team, Launch Lab, the Southeastern Ontario Angel Network, and St. Lawrence College. The Startup Runway provides participants with access to shared workspaces, meeting rooms, event spaces, numerous resources and various amenities and services.

The Wings program provides early stage founders with tools and guidance to help them assess the feasibility of their business idea, validate their proposed value proposition, and begin the development of a viable business model.

The Growth Catalyst (GC) program is designed for healthcare-focused companies and entrepreneurs seeking support and mentoring to grow their business. QPI experts will provide hands-on support related to IP strategy, market analysis, partnership/network development, and funding opportunities. Access to various patent services may be available via QPI’s registered patent agents. Mentors with expertise will be available to companies selected to participate.

Launch Lab’s 6-month Amplify program accelerates and scales innovative Eastern Ontario companies selling into both business-to-business (B2B) or business-to-consumer (B2C) markets regionally, nationally or internationally.

Services
The QPI team may be able to help startups strengthen an intellectual property and/or commercialization strategy.
The Queen's Business Law Clinic (QBLC) provides legal services, via its Director and Queen’s Law students, to organizations and entrepreneurs in southeastern Ontario who would otherwise have difficulty affording legal counsel. The QBLC helps early stage companies that meet the eligibility criteria, to incorporate a company and establish shareholder agreements, confidentiality agreements, employment agreements, and other legal documents as appropriate that provide a company with a solid foundation.
The QPI team, Entrepreneurs in Residence (EIRs) from the Southeastern Ontario Angel Network (SOAN), as well as staff and students from St. Lawrence College (SLC), are available to provide mentorship and coaching to eligible startups, including guidance and feedback related to product and market strategies, investment readiness and attraction, and the preparation of presentations.
SPARK is a creative communications agency driven by students and industry professionals of St. Lawrence College. With a passion and energy to create big things, SPARK works with businesses in the community to deliver industry standard, effective solutions to marketing challenges.
