COVID-19 - Updates and resources for researchers, entrepreneurs, startups and SMEs

Leveraging Queen's resources and critical funding from the government of Canada though FedDev Ontario, the Queen’s Partnerships and Innovation (QPI) team, Launch Lab, and St. Lawrence College (SLC) are offering several programs and services to help SMEs advance their business objectives. Programs and services are for SMEs in Eastern Ontario that are advancing science-based, technology-based, or software-based solutions.

Programs Growth Acceleration program for post-revenue startups and SMEs poised to grow

The Growth Acceleration program is QPI's three-month acceleration program for post revenue startups and SMEs poised to grow. The next iteration of the program will be running in fall 2020.

The next program cohort will start October 22, 2020.

Amplify Mentorship program for post-revenue startups and SMEs poised to grow

Launch Lab’s 6-month Amplify program accelerates and scales innovative Eastern Ontario companies selling into both business-to-business (B2B) or business-to-consumer (B2C) markets regionally, nationally or internationally.

Services Intellectual property services

The QPI team can help SMEs develop and implement or strengthen intellectual property and commercialization strategies.

Mentorship

Launch Lab Entrepreneurs in Residence and the Executive Director of the Southeastern Ontario Angel Network, as well as staff from QPI and St, Lawrence College, are available to provide mentorship and coaching to eligible SMEs, including guidance and feedback regarding funding opportunities, investment readiness and attraction, export market strategies and access, operations planning and/or talent development and attraction.

Research collaboration services The QPI team is outward facing and has a mandate to be a responsive institutional front door to companies seeking interactions and collaborations with Queen’s and our research community.  Contact us if you are interested in research, collaborating with Queen's on a project, related funding opportunities, talent attraction, or licensing opportunities, or for more information visit our page for external organizations.
Kingston-Syracuse Pathway

In partnership with the Kingston Economic Development Corporation and relevant organizations in Syracuse, the QPI team can support or connect startups and SMEs looking to establish business relationships or premises in Upper State New York or in Eastern Ontario.

Facilities

QPI is located in the Seaway Coworking building in downtown Kingston. Our incubation and acceleration clients have access to the amenities available such as private Zoom rooms, a podcast studio and workshop and event space.

Please note COVID-19 restrictions are currently in place. Contact Rick Boswell to learn more about access to Seaway Coworking.

Queen's University is also a partner of the University of Toronto's ONRamp facility, located in the Banting Institute in Toronto. This facility is a 15,000 square foot collaboration and coworking space for the U of T entrepreneurship community and partner universities. ONRamp is closed until further notice.
