The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Martin Sherris has been selected as the new CEO of the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce (GKCC).
“Appointing an experienced advocate who has been very active within the Chamber as a director, volunteer and engaged member will help ensure that the voice of Kingston businesses is heard,” said Bill Hughes, Board Chair. “This is of particular importance in light of a shifting local economy, our commitment to our member’s concerns and renewed fiscal restraint at all three levels of government. It is a time when the priorities of businesses need to continue to be advanced.”
As a lifelong resident of Kingston, and part of the local business community for the past 20 years, Martin is passionate about Kingston's growth and development. Martin's business expertise for the past 18 years has been in the waste and recycling service industry throughout the Kingston area. Martin most recently held the position of Director of Business Management at Manco Recycling Systems Inc. In 2008, the company that he worked for received the Kingston Chamber Large Business of the Year Award (Waste Services Inc.) Martin has experienced firsthand the value of membership that the Kingston Chamber brings. He is motivated and dedicated to the long-term growth and success of Kingston Chamber and feels that Kingston has all the ingredients here to become one of Canada's most sustainable cities.
Martin will assume his role at the GKCC effective early September 8th, 2014.
