Are you familiar with the fees and permits that are necessary to run your business in the City of Kingston? If not, this 1-hour virtual session is a great opportunity to get acquainted with what’s required as you launch, grow and scale your enterprise.

Join other women entrepreneurs from across the region to learn more about the services offered by the City of Kingston, including:

  • Who is my primary point of contact for City of Kingston?
  • How can I navigate the City’s processes to find what I’m looking for?
  • How can I connect with the community groups I need to be successful?

This session will also cover the topic of municipal licensing requirements, including:

  • Which licenses are required, under what conditions and what they cost
  • An introduction to Kingston zoning and building permits
  • Special permits required for rural/agricultural businesses
  • Public health requirements for food-based businesses

ABOUT THE PRESENTER:

Tracey Snow is the Manager of Rural & Community Economic Development for the City of Kingston and supports initiatives in business, workforce and rural economic development in all sectors, as well as the agricultural sector. She is an energizing entrepreneurial leader, communicator and connector . Tracey has extensive knowledge as a Business Owner/Operator, successful Economic Development roles, as well as Manager of Marketing and Operations Departments for growth-oriented organizations across Canada.

Mark Nardi is the City of Kingston’s Business Support Analyst. Since joining the Business Support Office in July 2022, he has worked with over 100 local businesses, connecting business owners with municipal resources and community supports. He works with businesses at any size and across sectors.

ABOUT THE WE-CAN PROJECT:

The WE-CAN Project is led by Queen’s University and supported by the Government of Canada. Its mission is to inspire and empower existing and aspiring women entrepreneurs by providing them with tools, resources, expert mentors, networks and community building to expand existing businesses and to launch new ventures.

The Government of Canada, through FedDev Ontario’s Women Entrepreneurship Strategy (WES) Ecosystem Fund is providing $3.2 million for Queen’s University to design and deliver programs and services to accelerate, train, mentor and provide resources to women entrepreneurs and women-led companies in the community.

The focus of the WES strategy is to provide support to women entrepreneurs from diverse and underrepresented groups.
