Have you struggled with grant writing in the past? Or don't even know where to begin when faced with a grant proposal?

Join the WE-CAN community of women entrepreneurs as we learn from grant writing specialist Nancy Churchman, PhD.

In this 1-hour session, Nancy will share seven keys to grant funding success, developed over her 15 years of experience in preparing successful grant proposals.

In this workshop, Nancy will discuss how to prepare an effective grant proposal, including:

• thinking like a grant reviewer
• the importance of storytelling
• what not to say
• staying ready to act when opportunities arise

ABOUT THE PRESENTER:

Nancy Churchman, PhD, has extensive experience in preparing a wide variety of successful grant proposals over the course of her varied career as a writer, administrator, instructor, and consultant.

Nancy holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Toronto, and currently combines a part-time position in research administration at Queen’s University with ongoing consulting work in grant proposal preparation.

Nancy has worked with a wide range of individuals and organizations, providing insight into what funders are looking for when selecting grant proposals to be funded and how applicants can make the best case possible for funding.

Nancy’s grant preparation advice is practical and results-focused, and she enjoys sharing her experience and advice with people who want to improve their grant writing skills.

ABOUT THE WE-CAN PROJECT:

The WE-CAN Project is led by Queen’s University and supported by the Government of Canada. Its mission is to inspire and empower existing and aspiring women entrepreneurs by providing them with tools, resources, expert mentors, networks and community building to expand existing businesses and to launch new ventures.

The Government of Canada, through FedDev Ontario’s Women Entrepreneurship Strategy (WES) Ecosystem Fund is providing $3.2 million for Queen’s University to design and deliver programs and services to accelerate, train, mentor and provide resources to women entrepreneurs and women-led companies in the community.

The focus of the WES strategy is to provide support to women entrepreneurs from diverse and underrepresented groups.
