Alex Cousins

Alex studies issues at the core of how human beings form worldviews, working in the fields of metaethics, politics, and applied epistemology. In metaethics, Alex focuses on issues of moral realism and the possible ontological foundations for morality. In politics, Alex attempts to trace how deep political discourse needs to dig into the worldviews of interlocutors. In applied epistemology, Alex studies the experience and reasoning of persons with chronic mental health conditions. Bringing these three areas together, Alex aims to develop an account of agency that can explain the complicated character of moral responsibility and the embodied nature of everyday deliberation, even under the influence of chronic mental health conditions.
