My name is Michael Luoma. I am from Orillia Ontario and completed my Honours Bachelor of Arts degree with High Distinction at the University of Toronto. I mostly study political and legal philosophy, although I have broad interests in everything values and the history of philosophy generally. My current research project examines discourses of state legitimacy as they pertain to settler colonial states with histories of authorized wrongdoing against indigenous peoples. I am especially interested in the relationship between reconciliation and legitimacy in this context, along with related notions of treaty federalism, sovereignty, the rule of law, and legal pluralism. My supervisor is Will Kymlicka.
