Ryan McSheffrey

Moral philosophy, political philosophy, and the philosophy of law

Ryan is interested in contemporary theories of punishment from the moral perspective, particularly regarding how concepts such as freedom, desert, and responsibility relate to putative moral justifications for the infliction of punishment. His other philosophical interests include (but are not limited to) contemporary liberal theories of justice and equality, the history of (Western) political and legal philosophy, and the philosophy of science.
