​Michael was a member of the department and taught courses in the above-listed areas from 1966 to 2005. He now lives in Brisbane, Australia, where he continues to do research and writing. Michael also holds the position of Adjunct Professor in the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, University of New England, Armidale, NSW, Australia. Since retiring in 2005, he has published several books: The Accessible Hegel (Humanity/Prometheus Books, 2005), The Remarkable Existentialists (Humanity/ Prometheus Books, 2009), Understanding Peace: A Comprehensive Introduction (Routledge, 2014), and Home: A Very Short Introduction (Oxford University Press, 2016). A new book Fate: A Strange but Revealing Idea is underway.
