On Friday, August 25, 2017, we had the pleasure of welcoming three representatives from Empire Life to a celebration luncheon and presentation.This was to honour the contributions of Empire Life who has been providing graduate research fellowships to our department since 2003.

Two of our three current Empire Life Fellows are PhD candidate Liam Remillard, and MSc Candidate Yingyi Lin, both of whom presented their current work in the area of sexually transmitted infections and the area of child health respectively. MPH student Caitlin Murphy was unable to attend.

We were joined by William Leacy, Executive Director, Development and Partnerships, here at Queen’s.

The representatives from Empire Life were: Julie Tompkins, Vice-President, Public Affairs & Chief Communication Officer; Stephen Biringer, Vice-President Retail Business development; and Caroline Keyes, Director, Underwriting, Claims, and Risk Management.

Representing the Department of Public Health Sciences was: Dr. Duncan Hunter, Graduate Coordinator; and Dr. Patti Groome, PhD Program Director.
