Abstract:

Despite decades of intense experimental investigations, several fundamental properties of the neutrinos are still unknown.  Experiments have conclusively demonstrated that neutrinos are not massless, yet the laboratory determination of their mass remains elusive.  In this talk, I will describe how the KATRIN experiment and other next-generation beta-decay experiments can help closing this knowledge gap.
