PHYS P20 Academic Assistantship

All Academic Assistants are invited to apply for a PHYS P20 Academic Assistantship. This position would involve marking student essays and uploading grades on onQ. You can read more about the details of this course here: This position is available in the Fall 2016 term.

Hours are expected to be 0.5 hours/essay assignment (800-1000 words per assignment) and there would be 80-100 assignments at the start of October (due to be graded by mid-October) and another 80-100 assignment at the start of November (due to be graded by mid-November).

Duties may also include answering student e-mails & inquiries. Any necessary training will be included in the assignment.

Skills and interests that will be considered an asset for this position include:

  • An interest and understanding of the philosophy and history of science
  • Experience with OnQ/D2L beneficial
  • Clear communication skills

The employability skills that will be considered complimentary to the technical skills above and that will be further developed by this position include:

  • Confidence and ability to work independently
  • Self motivation, initiative
  • Time management

The rate of pay is 28.04 + 7% in lieu of vacation time in accordance with Union guidelines.
