Undergraduate Research Assistant in Particle Astrophysics (First year)

Dates: May 2020 to August 2020

Description:
We are seeking to hire a motivated student who will have completed their first year of undergraduate studies in April 2020. The student will join the research team of the GePPC lab (Prof. Martin), that is aimed at developing germanium detector technologies to be applied in studies for neutrino physics and searches for dark matter. The student will be given opportunities to develop skills in computing, data analysis, and hardware that is used in astroparticle physics. In addition, by attending regular meetings associated with the SNOLAB group, the student will develop a broad understanding of the field of particle astrophysics. Specific projects will be assigned depending on the interests of the student. This position is funded by the McDonald Institute, and the student will benefit from opportunities to interact with members of the institute.

Qualifications: A qualified applicant will have completed their first year of undergraduate studies in April 2020 and aims to pursue studies in physics or engineering physics. Preference will be given to candidates from under-represented groups in physics.
