New Career Resource: The Versatile PhD

School of Graduate Studies has subscribed to the Versatile PhD (VPhD), an online resource for graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. This new institutional subscription enables Queen’s students, staff and faculty to access practical information on how to transition from a doctoral program into a vast array of non-academic careers. All of it is based on the real experience of successful PhDs.


Dental Benefit effective July 1, 2014 for Post-doctoral Fellows represented by PSAC Local 901, Unit 2

Effective July 1, 2014, employees in a Post-doctoral fellow position represented by PSAC Local 901 will be eligible for enrolment in the Queen’s Dental Benefit Plan. 

In order to be eligible for enrolment, an employee must be actively employed and the employee’s total length of staff appointment(s) at Queen’s University must equal or exceed 12 months.


TalentEdge Fellowship Program

Ontario’s TalentEdge Fellowship Program (TFP) provides support for Ontario-based PhD graduates and Postdoctoral Fellows (PDFs) to work on industry-driven research and development projects. This program is open to PDFs across all disciplines and areas of specialization.  Fellowships may be academic (college or university), or company based.


Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships

Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships are internationally competitive, merit-based scholarships provided by the Australian Government that support citizens of the Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas to undertake study, research and professional development programmes in Australia and for Australians to undertake these programmes overseas. The Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships programme forms part of the Australia Awards initiative established in 2009, which brings together under one banner scholarships offered by the Department of Education (the Department), Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research.


Green Talents - Program for Sustainability Researchers

For this program, researchers are  invited to Germany for 2 weeks. The research has to be on sustainability in this interdisciplinary program. Post-doctoral fellows and graduate students who are 32 and under at the time of application are eligible to apply.
Since 2009, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has held the prestigious “Green Talents – International Forum for High Potentials in Sustainable Development” to promote the international exchange of ideas regarding green solutions. 


Opportunities for Post-Docs in Germany

50 postdocs from around the world will be invited to spend five days at Technical University Munich (TUM) during the Research Opportunities Week – an event that is fully funded by TUM with the Postdoc Mobility Travel Grant. TUM will then offer the most talented participants of the Research Opportunities Week a TUM University Foundation Fellowship to spend one year as a postdoc at TUM. Applications for the travel grant are due May 30.
