Congratulations to Post-doctoral Researcher Rhea Hoskin on recently being awarded the Governor General Gold Medal and the Ontario Women’s Health Scholars Postdoctoral Award!

Rhea was awarded the Governor General Gold Medal for her PhD, which she completed at Queen’s in the department of Sociology. This medal is awarded to a graduating or completed Master’s or Doctoral student in the School of Graduate Studies, chosen in competition with other nominated graduate students from across the University. It is awarded on the basis of outstanding academic achievement. Two medals are given each year to the top students across all departments.

Rhea was also awarded one of two Ontario Women’s Health Scholars Postdoctoral Awards for the upcoming year to continue working with Dr. Sari van Anders studying femmephobia, anti-femininity, and violence. The OWH is awarded to scholars whose research seeks to improve the health and well-being of women and was established to attract and retain pre-eminent women’s health scholars.
