About the Lab
The research in the Language and Cognition lab at Queen's focuses on issues of language learning and social cognition. We are exploring cognitive processes, with a focus on language, in relation to the social and cultural circumstances in which they unfold and the social competences they require. Within social cognition, our focus is on the development of social learning and information gathering. A new direction is the development and the role of beliefs about the organization of the social world. Our work bridges ideas and insights generated within developmental, cognitive, and social psychology. It also draws on theories and findings from linguistics, philosophy, and sociology.
