Canadian Academic English Experience

Program Description

Polish your English language skills in the Canadian Academic Context!

The Canadian Academic English Experience program is a short-term English language program, which focuses on learning academic English at a top-tier Canadian university.This student-centered immersion program focuses on developing speaking and listening skills using Canadian academic content. This program offers excellent preparation for further academic studies including the English for Academic Purposes program or provides an English language refresher program for exchange students or others taking English-language academic programs.

This program is ideal for the intermediate or higher level English language learner. Queen's University and the City of Kingston offer an ideal English-immersion environment to international students. Queen's University is located only a few steps from the beautiful waterfront of Lake Ontario and Kingston's vibrant downtown area.

Program Details

  • 3 weeks in the late summer or early spring
  • 20.5 hours of classroom instruction per week
  • 2 hours of guided excursions per week

Guided Excursions

  • Canadian university students will lead classes to a different Kingston venue/attraction every week.
  • These venues are tied to the course theme and may include: Agnes Etherington Art Centre, Penitentiary Museum, Miller Museum of Geology, Wolfe Island and/or other academic facilities or laboratories located at Queen’s University. *Guided excursion destinations are subject to availability.
