Infant babe,
babe who sleeps,

I am the oldest
living thing

you know,
an unshaven

bristlecone
bent over

your bed. Soon
you will meet

your ancient
grandparents

and later
your doctors

and teachers, our
friends – crones

and geriatrics
from a century

before yours – .....
