Fall 2022 - In Cemento Veritas

 

I live in a world that I shape to my liking. My concrete sculptures take shape as I transform my personal clothing with plaster, resin, and cement so that these pieces carry my ideas, my memories, and my DNA in their new form. This process turns the viewer into a type of postmodern archaeologist, someone who can study my work as newly discovered urban artifacts. I like to think that those who look at these artifacts will be able to perceive the anguish, the vulnerability, and the fear that each of us has felt when faced with the global scourge that we have experienced as COVID-19 …


Bio:

Mario Loprete is a painter and sculptor who lives and works in Catanzaro, Italy. He is a graduate of the Accademia di Belle Arti in Catanzaro, loves to travel, and has exhibited his work widely.
