
His middle name was Churchill, and he loved to proclaim that his most
precious baptized name determined his rise to prominence. He loved
sports, coached volleyball and table tennis, and encouraged all the young
boys to learn from him. No one, not even I, had the courage to challenge
him for fear of reprisal. They (the school board and the young boys) wanted
him “to just go away,” and I wanted him to just go away as well. For now,
we would have to go together … Not ideal … but perhaps a closer step to
safety for many children as well as myself...
