Spring 2023 - Merlin's Warning

 

At the beginning of The Once and Future King, Merlin attempts to instruct Arthur in the tradition of just war as a safeguard against war hawks and realists like Mordred and Agravaine. He is, like his creator T.H. White, a “fervent pacifist” who believes that no war should ever be started and advocates reason over force at all times. However, Arthur once again fails to heed this lesson, dooming his world to many more tomorrows of war …
