Wim observes with some caution (not wishing to generalize) that taken as a whole (if this is possible), it could be postulated that GERMANY q.v. showed an early interest in recycling & has maintained its place among world’s highest recyclers but see CAVEAT q.v. below, alongside Austria, Belgium, SWITZERLAND q.v. vs by contrast 2015 report France’s rates = disastrous [NEEDS UPDATE q.v.], only 25% of French waste recycled vs Germany = in top position for no. of years & NB 2021 Guardian report re ‘WASTE q.v. colonialism’ 2021 says Germany exports c.1m tonnes plastic waste annually via container ship (141 ships left Hamburg Nov. 2021) …
