Summer 2022 - Saturday Night

 

It’s Saturday night, and I’m on my way to spend the evening with my dad. The sticky heat has been building all week, and a thick damp hangs in the air, even though it’s already September. Everything looks tired. The windshield wipers smear the streetlights as I drive towards the small hospital.

Bio:

Linda E. Clarke is an author and performance storyteller. Her work has appeared in numerous publications, including the New Quarterly, Understorey Magazine, Hamilton Arts and Letters, Ars Medica, the Canadian Medical Association Journal, the Halifax Chronicle-Herald, and the Globe and Mail.
