The “Reopen Movement” is a confusing mix of nihilists, anti-government activists, anti-vaxxers, and alternative medicine advocates – who align with racists, far-right conspiracy theorists, Christians, and libertarians through their mistrust of “mainstream” medicine, Bill Gates, and “the Media.” In Vancouver, I witnessed this community screaming at first responders at St Paul’s Hospital on May 10 – and then on May 17 watched them summon first responders to rescue one of their members who had collapsed at a rally …


Bio:

Jen Osborne is a Canadian photographer whose work has been published and exhibited internationally. She often works with Maclean’s and has contributed to Stern, the Sunday Times, GQ, Mother Jones, Vice, Esquire, Vanity Fair Italy, the Globe and Mail, the New York Times, and Io Donna, among other publications. She has an extensive exhibition record and has shown at various venues including Visa pour l’Image 2016, Aperture Gallery, the Musée de l’Elysée, the Denver Biennial, the Old Church (Amsterdam), Rencontres d’Arles 2010, and Studio la Città.
