Daytime Groups Meeting Details

Book Discussion

Books for the year are chosen by consensus.  Each month a book is reviewed and discussed.  Books already chosen for the fall discussion times are:  Conclave by Robert Harris for September;  A Gentlemen in Moscow by Amor Towles for October and The Cat’s Table by Michael Ondaatje for November.  The group will select future books in the fall.

Bridge – Intermediate

Intermediate or better players enjoy bridge and related social events.  Usually 5-6 tables playing.  Refreshments served.

Bridge - Social Duplicate

Duplicate style bridge in a social setting, changing partners during the afternoon.  Each player finishes with her own personal score.

Bridge – Thursday Afternoon with Coaching

We are an enthusiastic group who are still learning and we always welcome new members.  At the start of each session and at our request, our instructor gives a mini lesson clarifying one of the rules or conventions of the modern bridge game.

French Conversation

Participants bring their lunch, drink tea, chat and engage in general conversation – in French in a relaxed, lively and supportive group.  A warm welcome is extended to all.

The Investors's Circle

A virtual (no money) investment group. The group research and discuss investment strategies and share investment information.  Investing experience is a prerequisite.

Scribblers' Writing Group

This informal group shares different genres of writing drawn from their own experiences or given topics.

Theme Luncheon

Participants prepare a dish from recipes selected by the organizers of the Theme event of the month.

Walking Group

Groups of two or three members take turns organizing a walk (country or city) and will provide tea and light refreshments following the walk.  Cross-country skiing is a possibility.

Evening Groups Meeting Details

Bridge - Friday Evening Social Bridge

Social bridge for a member and spouse/partner; member and guest; or two paired members with light refreshments after play. Subs are available for a player seeking a partner.

Buffet Dinner with Guest

Members work together to put on a dinner and decide on date and time.  Please do NOT sign up for this group if you are not prepared to host a dinner unless you have done so many times in the past.

Cooking with Grammas – New**

Two -three volunteer members together with Queen’s students prepare meals in a social atmosphere.

Groups that Do Not Meet Details

Book Exchange (Reading Only)

Members collectively buy newly published books and commit to passing a book every 3 weeks.  This interest group is NOT well suited to those who travel for extended periods of time.  Cost per person is approximately $35 as a one time payment in September.

No meetings, sign up by end of day on September 13th, 2017 to ensure a spot.
