July Update

Hello QWA members:

I hope you are well, keeping safe, and coping with the heat and humidity.  It is my pleasure to provide you with this update.

QWA’s new home at 187A King Street West is coming together … slowly but surely.  Our Queen's contact for upgrades and repairs is helpful and accommodating.  Many of the Queen's gardeners spent a day cleaning up the grounds: hedges trimmed back, weeds removed, bushes and small trees professionally pruned, etc. The grounds look amazing!  The roof and deck upgrades and repairs will be actioned in the Fall.

We did not move everything from 144 Albert Street;  we left some old and broken items behind.  We have purchased a few items of furniture, rugs, etc. to add some colour to our new place.  To minimize trips to the basement, we invested in storage units on the main floor.  In the next week or so, the wall art will be hung, and we will be down to the finishing touches.

We have some plans in the works that involve a tour of our new home at 187A King Street West.  Hopefully, some of the interest groups will be able to meet in the Fall.  Should current COVID-19 rules still be in effect, then the ability to self-distance will be the deciding factor.

In the meantime, your Executive is busy updating the Bulletin and the Membership forms and completing other important tasks.  The Principal’s Office is currently developing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), with our input.  We are doing everything we can to have the house operational in September.  You will receive further information very soon.

I hope you will agree that our QWA future looks promising in our new venue.

Please keep well and stay safe,

Valerie Klassen
