May Event - Trip to Spindletree Gardens

All QWA members are invited to a High Tea and guided Tour of Spindle Tree Gardens on May 24th in Tamworth.  It will be a wonderful spring outing, the last QWA event planned for this year.

The gardens are wonderful, 20 acres of rolling lawns, exotic trees, English style gardens, a cedar maze, rivulets and brooks, a gazebo, park benches and rose gardens.  At every turn there is beauty which will be at its best in spring!  The tour will be guided by the owner, Tom Brown.  He's available for questions but he encourages people to branch off or linger where they'd like to spend longer or to "sit awhile"

The tea will be prepared by his wife, Sandra Meisner, and served in her lovely tearoom in the original farmhouse.  She makes delicious scones served with homemade jams, sumptuous tarts and cakes and little dainty sandwiches.  This is served with a variety of exotic teas.

There is a lovely gift shop to browse through when one has had enough walking.  There are lots of unique craft and Canadiana items.  It's advisable to bring good walking shoes for the tour!

The outing requires 1 volunteer driver for every 4 non drivers so you are invited to make up a party of 5.  Otherwise, we'll still get you there!

The cost is $50.00 which includes tax and tip.

Sandra wants a 4 week numbers notice so that she can decide whether or not to close to the public.  She also requires half payment at that time so you'll be required to give your $50.00 cheque (to QWA) when your register.

Cheques may be left at 144 clubrooms in the foyer in an envelope c/o Linda Kenney.

Hope you plan to join us!
