On May 24 and from June 18 to 21, Queen's University is proud to welcome members of the Spring 2024 graduation class back to Kingston to celebrate Convocation.

     

    All Applications for Graduation are made through the SOLUS Student Centre

    Please note that completion of an application to graduate does not guarantee the awarding of a degree.

    Ceremony Broadcasts and Recordings

    • Recordings of each ceremony will be posted for viewing on our Spring 2024 Ceremony Broadcasts page when available.

     

     

    May 24 Ceremony  - School of Medicine / MBA - Americas

    • Venue: Grant Hall (doors open at 8:30 am)
    • Graduate arrival time: Kingston Hall at 8:00 am
    • Ceremony start time: 10 am
    • Guest seating limit: Three (3) per graduate
      • Viewing Room available for additional guests in Kingston Hall, Room 101
      • Graduates must confirm invited guest numbers via SOLUS by May 12
      • Tickets: No physical tickets will be issued. Guests will be checked in at the venue
    • Special accommodations for graduates and/or guests: If a graduate or a guest attending Convocation has an accessibility need, seating can be reserved by completing our online form
    • Hood and Gown Rentals: Online preorders can be placed via the Gaspard/AMS 'Build A Grad' portal (https://www.buildagrad.com/queensu) from December 15, 2023 to May 3, 2024 at 11:50 pm (EST). Same-day ordering will be available, subject to higher prices

    • Diploma Frame Sales: All your hard work and dedication has paid off.  Be ready to showcase your diploma with pride in an official Queen’s frame.

    June Ceremony Venue, Arrival, and Details

    All June 2024 ceremonies will be held at the Leon's Centre. 

    Graduates:

    • Please arrive 2 hours prior to the ceremony start time (for ceremonies that begin at 10 am, arrive by 8 am. For 3 pm ceremonies, arrive by 1 pm)
    • There will be lots of standing – we encourage you to wear comfortable shoes!
    • Bring photo ID, but leave other personal items at home or with a family member
    • Hood and Gown Rentals: Online preorders can be placed via the Gaspard/AMS 'Build A Grad' portal (https://www.buildagrad.com/queensu) from December 15, 2023 to May 16, 2024 at 11:59 pm (EST) Same-day ordering will be available, subject to higher prices Pick-up locations for regalia will be provided when available.

    Guests:

    • Doors open 90 minutes before ceremony time
    • There is no assigned seating
    • Graduate procession is scheduled to start 25 minutes before ceremony start time
    • Ceremonies are expected to be approximately 2 hours

    Please note: Some of the graduates and guests in attendance suffer from sensitivities due to scented products. We kindly request that you consider refraining from wearing scented products to this event.

    Park on Campus and Ride a Kingston Transit (KT) Bus Downtown – Free!

    • Avoid traffic! Come to campus and park for free in any main campus surface lot or dedicated convocation lots
    • Hop on a city bus at any near-campus bus stop and head downtown for free!
      • Please confirm with the driver that you are going to the Leon’s Centre for convocation
    • Hop off at any regular downtown bus stop and walk to the Leon’s Centre
    • Click “Commuter Services” on our online Campus Map for all campus parking lots and city bus stops
    • You can ride any city bus back to your parking spot for free after your ceremony
      • Remember to tell the driver you have been at convocation

    Park and Pay Downtown

    Please note: there are lane restrictions on the Lasalle Causeway if you are approaching the Leon’s Centre from Hwy 15/2.

    Due to capacity and seating limits, graduates who have RSVP'd are limited to three (3) guests.(Deadline TBD)

    Please note that physical tickets will not be issued. Guests will provide the name of their graduating student to ushering staff upon arrival.

    Regalia Rentals

    Online preorders can be placed via the Gaspard/AMS 'Build A Grad' portal (https://www.buildagrad.com/queensu) from December 15, 2023 to

    • May 3, 2024 at 11:50 pm (EST) for those graduating May 24, 2024
    • May 16, 2024 at 11:59 pm (EST) for those graduating between June 18 and 21, 2024

    Online Pricing:

    • $35.00 for undergraduate and Master's regalia,
    • $40.00 for Ph.D. regalia with or without graduation cap
    • $55.00 for Ph.D. regalia with beefeater.

    Same Day (Onsite) Pricing:

    • $70.00 for undergraduate and Master's regalia
    • $80.00 for Ph.D regalia with or without graduation cap
    • $110.00 for Ph.D. regalia with beefeater.
    • If you did not rent online, please bring your Student ID, or Photo ID. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Visa Debit and prepaid credit cards. 

     

    Degree, Diploma, and Certificate Pickup 

    Parchments for Spring 2024 graduates will be available for pick up after the ceremony when you return your regalia. Photo identification is required.

    On-Site Photos

    At the Leon’s Centre, after your ceremony, you can return your rental gown and hood right away, or you can meet your family and friends and take photos before returning your gown and hood. 

    • Gowns and hoods must then be returned at the King St. entrance.
    • Find information on purchasing convocation flowers.

    Attention Arts & Science Joint Honours: Please attend ceremony by first alphabetical department, using the Program Plan Code rather than the name.

    • For example, if your concentrations are ECON (Economics) in Ceremony 6 and DEVS (Global Development Studies) in Ceremony 2, you will attend based on the alphabetical order of the Program Code, which would be DEVS in Ceremony 2.

The photographs and recordings may be used in applications including but not limited to print, broadcast, electronic, digital, and social media, for promoting, publicizing, or explaining Queen’s or its activities and for administrative, educational, or research purposes.

    If you would prefer not to be photographed or recorded, please let the photographer/videographer know where possible, or reach out through one of the email addresses below following the ceremony.
