August 18, 2016 - Offensive Messages Continue to be Received on University Printers

A number of departments have reported receiving offensive messages on their printers in recent days. This has been an ongoing issue since first addressed by ITS in March of this year.

Below is a summary of the original ITS post along with information from subsequent updates:

Users have been reporting that network connected printers have received offensive print jobs from unknown sources. Printers that are publicly accessible on the Queen's network are susceptible to this issue. 

If you are experiencing this problem or would like more information about securing a network printer, please contact the IT Support Centre at 36666 (613-533-6666).  

Departments with leased Multi-Function Devices can also contact their vendor for assistance on securing the device.

ITS has the following page published to assist users in securing their network printers.

Departments receiving offensive messaging in the future should notify the IT Support Centre week days between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm at extension 36666.
