Queen’s University International Centre (QUIC)

This support service for all members of the Queen’s Community promotes a cross-culturally sensitive learning environment. The centre offers support for international students in finding housing, it provides a relaxing and welcoming space for conversation, and provides information about study permits, visas, health insurance coverage, taxes and living in Kingston.

QUIC provides information about visas and study permits. Look for help on the web page or stop by the centre to talk to Justin Kerr (advising hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday.

SGS On-site Counsellor

Graduate studies provide opportunities for exciting new challenges and experiences. However, there are times when it can seem overwhelming. If you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, sad, lonely or distressed, you do not need to handle it alone.  The School of Graduate Studies has an embedded counsellor who provides individual counselling services to graduate students, group programs, and will host mental health & wellness events.  

Please note that this counselling service is part of the services provided by Student Wellness and adheres to strict standards of confidentiality. Your counselling records will not be shared with anyone unless you give specific consent for release of your information.

How to Access Counselling Services at Queen’s

To book a counselling appointment, call 613-533-2136 (32136). This is a dedicated phone line and has confidential voicemail. All services are strictly confidential.

Intercultural Competency

  • The Queen’s University International Centre offers a wide variety of in-person programs that will help build your intercultural competence. Certificate of completion is available.
  • An interactive online module designed specifically for graduate students introduces key concepts and strategies to help navigate this diverse world and offers case scenarios and activities to test your new knowledge and to apply it to your own experience. (Certificate of completion available; no charge but require a Queen’s NetId to access.)
English Language Support

Queen’s School of English offers language training at a variety of levels for your studies, career, and life in English-speaking Canada.

English Conversation Group

Graduate students and their partners are invited to meet weekly throughout the academic year to talk and practise their English skills at the Queen’s University International Centre.
