Homecoming Research Showcase

At the Donald Gordon Centre on Saturday October 15, eleven graduate students showcased their research to alumni as part of Homecoming 2016.  This was the first time such an event had been held for graduate students. The showcase is part of the School of Graduate Studies' commitment to help disseminate the great research our grad students are doing.  With special guest Dr. Art McDonald (of Physics Nobel Laureate fame), the morning got off to a great start.  In his introductory remarks, Dr. McDonald showed that even after many years in research it isn't always easy to explain the work that you are doing to people outside of your field. Our students had six minutes for this task.

Alumni present were able to ask questions after each presentation and also provide feedback to each of the presenters.  Dr. McDonald presented a SNOlab cap to Hannah Dies (Chemical Engineering) for her presentation and Oluwatobiloba Moody (Law) and Catherine Normandeau (Neuroscience) received the People's Choice award and runner up respectively.

Thank you to all those who came out to listen to our grad students and to our volunteers both at this event and throughout the past week during Career Week.
